Online Vegan Okonomiyaki
Vegan, From late autumn to early spring class
Service Description
What is Okonomiyaki? Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake. “Okonomi” means “what you like” and “yaki” means “grilled”. The topping and the batter vary from region to region and home to home. That is why this dish is called “Okonomiyaki”. In this class, we will introduce you to how to make Vegan Okonomiyaki in Kansai/Osaka style where Yoko, the teacher of this class grew up in. As the broth is used to make Kansai/Osaka style’s Okonomiyaki batter, we will also show you how to make vegan broth. Japanese Yam and an egg are often used for the batter of Okonomiyaki to keep the ingredients together and to enjoy the fluffy texture. However, as this is a vegan Okonomiyaki, and we know it’s difficult to find Japanese yam, we will introduce the recipe of using silken tofu and potato starch as the substitution of Japanese Yam and an egg. You can enjoy the fluffy and moist textures! And we can’t miss sizzling delicious Okonomiyaki sauce and vegan mayonnaise for Okonomiyaki. We will make these together in the class. They go well with Okonomiyaki! As we use cabbage a lot in this recipe and cabbage is delicious from late autumn to early spring, we recommend you to take this class during this season. You will feel the sweetness of cabbage. *The price is per class. Up to two people can join an online cooking class without an additional fee, but please use the same device.
